China publishes its first photos and videos from Mars
The Chinese space agency CNSA announced the readiness of the first Chinese Mars rover «Zhurong» to work and published the first photos and videos received from the Red Planet.
As noted by the agency, the photographs show how the Zhurong is separated from the descent module, and also deploys the antenna, solar panels, and other mechanisms in normal mode.
Much lower quality videos show the descent module detachment from the Tianwen-1 probe orbital module.
On May 15 at 1 am Beijing time, the Chinese space probe Tianwen-1 entered Mars orbit, at 7:18 am the descent module with the Zhurong rover successfully landed on the surface of the Red Planet.
Zhurong (Chinese: 祝融号) is a Chinese mytho-historical figure usually associated with fire and light. The name was selected by a public online vote held between 20 January 2021 and 28 February 2021
